Derek Acorah needs no introduction. The pioneer for Spiritualism and mediumship on television, & arguably the world’s most renowned Spirit Medium having demonstrated to hundreds of thousands of people in UK theatres over his 25 year career in the public eye. Derek’s television career dates back over fifteen years when he became the first medium ever to demonstrate live on air on a weekly basis bringing hope and comfort to the viewing public. His television audience was huge not only in the UK, airing across Europe, the Middle East, India, Australia and New Zealand. Programmes such as “The Psychic Zone”, “Psychic Livetime” and “Derek Acorah’s Predictions” were enjoyed by a global audience. Derek was invited to demonstrate live at The Vogue Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard as well as taking part in a number of Hollywood based paranormal investigations. A programme “Connections” saw Derek going out onto the streets of Santa Monica was also filmed for television in the USA.
Derek’s popularity grew with the birth of televised investigative mediumship in the form of the ground-breaking “Most Haunted”. Such was Derek’s accuracy that he was dubbed “Mr. Most Haunted” by the programme’s many millions of viewers throughout the world. Following his departure from “Most Haunted”, a new programme was created for Derek aptly entitled “Derek Acorah’s Ghost Towns”, moving away from the format of “Most Haunted” taking his investigations into the homes of the viewers. Derek’s next project saw him following the footsteps of Guy Fawkes for the 500th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot; Egypt was the location for a eight series programme entitled “Paranormal Egypt”, followed by two successful series of a programme simply called “Derek Acorah” where he demonstrates mediumship and psychometry to a studio based audience.
Derek’s charm and charisma has made him a most welcome guest on numerous television programmes appearing in programmes such as “Dr. Who”, “This Morning”, “The Weakest Link”, “Richard & Judy”, “Vroom Vroom”, “Harry Hill’s TV Burp”, “Alan Carr’s Celebrity Big Bang”, “Livin’ with Lucy”, “Paul O’Grady”, “Lorraine”, “The Steve Nolan Show” and many more. Derek has also played himself in the film “Big Fat Gypsy Gangster” and the live stage show “Ghosts”. Derek’s greatest honour was receiving the Variety Club of Great Britain’s Multichannel TV Personality of the Year Award in 2004.
Derek is the author of eleven books two of which achieved the top of “The Times” Non-fiction Best Seller list and have been translated into Russian and Mandarin. An autobiography, as yet untitled, is due which will reach the top of the best seller list once again.
In spite of his huge popularity Derek remains a dedicated worker for Spirit connecting people with their loved ones in the spirit world, bringing proof of survival. Thousands of people have written to Derek over the years thanking him for the help, hope, comfort and reassurance he has passed on to them.
